Location
Casa Bella Vista is nestled in the lakeside town of Trevignano Romano, only a 45-minute drive to Rome and the city's Fiumicino International Airport. Hot mineral baths, Etruscan ruins, and the Italian coast are all just a short drive away. The house is close to Trevignano's central piazza and old town. It's also close to the lake, shops and restaurants. The walk to both the lake and the town is short but involves a hill. Car rental is strongly recommended.
Trevignano is a picturesque village on the northern shores of Lake Bracciano, the crater of an ancient volcano. The town was built at the end of a small bay. There is a delightful medieval quarter and a palm-studded lakeside promenade, which stretches for some two miles and is lined with many bars and restaurants overlooking the lake, perfect for an evening stroll.
Trevignano is an ideal jumping-off point for day trips. Rome is easily accessible by either train or bus. Bracciano, with its extraordinary medieval castle, is a few miles along the lake road. The ancient hilltop town of Sutri is also nearby as are the Etruscan centers of Tarquinia and Tuscania. Trevignano itself is thought to be the site of the ancient Etruscan city of Sabate, whose necropolis is still visible.

 Trevignano Romano & Lake Bracciano
Trevignano Romano from Lake Bracciano |
Lake Bracciano is circular and measures some five miles across. It's about 500 feet deep at its center. The water, warm from May-September, is so clean that it acts as an emergency water reservoir for Rome. For this reason, the only motorboat allowed on the lake is the quaint ferry that travels between the three lake towns of Trevignano, Anguillara and Bracciano.
Fresh fish caught in the lake is on every restaurant menu. Besides swimming, Lake Bracciano is ideal for sailing, canoeing and windsurfing. Sailboats, windsurfers, canoes and pedal boats can all be rented by the hour from several locations around the lake.
The lake has many sandy beaches where deck chairs and umbrellas can also be rented. There are public tennis courts in town. Recommendations for day-trips, restaurants and things to do while in Trevignano are available upon request.
